Richard W. Kirkman, 63, of 5505 Green Meadows, Torrance, Cal., died at the Little County of Mary Hospital in Torrance on Sunday March 7, 1976 at 10 a.m. after a four month illness. He was born at Attica, Ind., July 5, 1912, the son of William and Tena Olivia Carlson Kirkman. He lived in Attica and had been a California resident since 1959. He was married September 11, 1937 at Bedford, Ind. to Vada Cox, who survives. A graduate of Attica High School he attended Illinois University and was a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon, Wabash Lodge 708 F&AM of Attica, and the Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis. He worked at Harrison Steel Casting Co. and was later associated with the Smith Photography Studio., and will be fondly remembered by many taking pictures for high school yearbooks in Attica and surrounding schools. At the time of his illness he was operating a vending service in Cal. A veteran of World War II, he served in the Navy as a Chief Petty Officer. Surviving with the widow are two brothers, Rex and Leslie Kirkman both of Attica, and one sister, Mrs. Judith Wilhite of Bedford. His parents and four brothers preceded him in death. Funeral services at the Dale Maus Funeral Home with Rev. Vernon Lallement officiating. Burial in Riverside Cemetery in Attica. - jlr
